The split colorway design of this Jordan 1 High NRG gives it a look that is both dynamic and unique, making it highly sought-after. Released exclusively in Chicago, the different halves of the shoe replicate two of the most iconic of all AJ1 colorways in the Bred and the Chicago, the former taking the medial side, the latter the lateral one. It was created in honor of Jordan’s time in the city during his career with the Bulls and, as a result, its nickname is Homage to Home. Feature-wise, it represents the classic look of the Jordan 1, with a University Red outsole made of grippy rubber that has been graced with tread patterns ranging from concentric circles under the forefoot to thick lugs below the heel. This provides the wearer with maximum traction underfoot, allowing them to achieve swift twisting and turning with ease, while the white midsole placed atop it softens things up via a blend of foam and Air cushioning.

With comfort and grip guaranteed, the leather upper can deliver its offbeat aesthetic, beginning with the lateral side, which has premium black leather on the forefoot overlays, midfoot panel and collar. Its toe box and heel counter are both University Red, as is its collar wrap and the swoosh on its flank. Along with the sole unit, the rear part of the sneaker effectively unifies the design as the collar, collar wrap and heel counter extend around to the medial side in the exact same color. Most other elements, however, change their look, the forefoot overlays and eyestay switching to University Red, the toe box and midfoot panels becoming white, and the swoosh turning black. The laces are another common element, being black all the way up, but the tongue beneath is black on the lateral half and white on the medial one, as is the patch sewn into its peak. University Red Nike Air branding has been woven through both of the patches, once again bringing the two halves together.

Although the back of the tongue continues the split aesthetic, the inner walls and insole are entirely black, apart from the Nike Air logo printed onto the latter, which is white. The toe box also features the usual set of perforations, so the shoe retains its excellent breathability in this area, and black Air Jordan Wings have been pressed into each lateral collar wrap. In the center of the heel, there is one last special detail as the small square of University Red leather placed there displays the word “From” on the left foot and “For” on the right as a fitting conclusion to this honorary sneaker.
