Jordan 1 Retro High x Spider-Man

This colorful Jordan 1 Retro High x Spider-Man sneaker was created in tandem with the 2018 movie, which followed the beginning of character Miles Morales’ journey to becoming the iconic superhero. Its nickname, Origin Story, reflects this, while its color scheme emulates the look of the fan-favorite Chicago colorway but with tonal changes that give a nod to Spider-Man’s outfit. One of these alterations is the addition of blue across the shoe’s rubber outsole, its translucent complexion giving it an icy appearance. Its grip formations are like those on other AJ1s, with concentric rings below the forefoot and lugs around the heel either side of a Nike-branded section in the center of the outsole.

A white midsole with a lightly textured surface comes next, its upper edge lined with a band of white stitching set into a shallow groove. Within, it contains bouncy encapsulated Air surrounded by a soft foam – a duo of cushioning materials that provide maximum support to the wearer. The tumbled leather base layer of the upper is also an elegant white. It shows up on the toe box, whose lines of perforations help to keep the foot cool, and again across the midfoot panels, which taper towards the heel. Bold black swooshes reach down the flanks to contrast powerfully with the white of these latter sections, before the other overlays bring in a bright tone of Gym Red. These account for the forefoot mudguard and the two overlays behind it, as well as the eyestay, the heel counter and the collar wrap. Each of these vivid red pieces of leather is decorated with reflective spots – a subtle reference to early Spider-Man comics.

Black laces tie up over a puffy white tongue, which has a Photo Blue label sewn into its peak. Gym Red Nike Air text stands out upon this label in a tonal juxtaposition that is repeated inside the shoe on the Photo Blue sockliner. The padded inner lining is black to match the outer part of the collar, as the whole feature serves to protect the ankle via its high cut. Finally, the lateral collar wrap accommodates a pair of Air Jordan Wings in black to round out this stunning Hollywood collaboration.
