Cloudvista

On has been creating trail running shoes for a number of years now, and in 2021, the brand added the Cloudvista to its collection. This lightweight option has a versatile design that works well on light and moderate trails, but also provides all-day comfort for walking and hiking.

The On Cloudvista features the brand’s signature combination of firm yet supportive Helion superfoam and soft CloudTec cushioning for a decent blend of comfort and stability. This is enhanced by its springy Speedboard, which on 2024’s Cloudvista 2 has been redesigned into a two-pronged structure that delivers even more responsiveness and speed, with smaller CloudTec elements in the forefoot creating a springy feeling at the toe. Between versions 1 and 2 of the shoe, the heel-to-toe drop was reduced from 9mm to 6mm, bringing increased stability, while the rocker-like shape of the sole still produces a smooth transition through the foot, thus propelling the wearer forwards. Its outsole is made from hard-wearing Missiongrip rubber built to withstand a variety of harsh terrain types, with the Cloudvista 2 having an updated tread pattern and more powerful lugs for improved traction.

Like many On shoes, the upper of the Cloudvista is made from recycled materials, making it a sustainable option. It also offers a decent balance of breathability and durability through its premium yet flexible materials and protective TPU reinforcements. Perforations in the thin, lightweight tongue increase ventilation over the top of the foot, with strategically placed padding on the Cloudvista 2 for extra comfort. The heel is well-cushioned too, and its carefully crafted shape helps to hold the back of the foot in place. This effect is enhanced by the fully-gusseted tongue, which also prevents dirt getting inside the shoe, and the secure lacing system, which incorporates an elastic strap stretching across the midfoot for firm lockdown. Meanwhile, a flexible band loops over the tongue, allowing the wearer to tuck excess laces out of the way to prevent snagging when on the trail.

The On Cloudvista has a distinctive style, with semi-translucent materials on the vamp and quarter, eye-catching panels in various colors, classy reflective logos and bold CloudTec openings in its generously cushioned sole unit. It is also available in a Waterproof edition, which has a special three-layered membrane across the outer and a protective ripstop mesh on the vamp to shield the feet from wet weather and off-road debris without compromising too much on breathability.
