Jordan 6 Retro
"Chrome"
DX2836-001
The dark color scheme of this Jordan 6 Retro gives it a stealthy look, while its subtly shimmering details add a chic touch to the design. It is founded upon a rubber outsole with solid black areas under the toe and heel, as well as through the center. Translucent pieces then come in from the sides and over the heel, their angular edges creating an eccentric look underfoot. Circular indentations bring grip to the forefoot and heel, while a light gray Jumpman has been embossed below the arch of the foot. The translucent parts of the outsole, which have a subtle blue tinge running through them, reach up around its edges to merge with the black polyurethane midsole. Wavy bands of Metallic Silver cap each of these partially see-through bits, giving the shoe its nickname: Chrome, and the one on each side of the heel houses an oblong-shaped window to show off the bouncy Air cushioning inside.
Meanwhile, the upper has been forged from premium black nubuck, the smooth material covering the base layer of the toe and flanks, as well as the sidewall panels and the large heel overlay. The last encompasses the whole back part of the shoe, reaching as far as the front of the collar, which has three thickly embossed ridges on each side. Just behind these are more raised lumps that have been placed there to protect the ankles and marked with large perforations to add breathability. Smaller ones appear either side of the raised area, and additional ventilation holes can be seen in the underlayer around the quarter. Geometric patterns somewhat like those on the outsole move back and forth over the sides of the shoe, eyelets pressed into their upper edges to carry the black laces.
The bottom of the tongue has a dark gray complexion with even more perforations, ensuring that this AJ6 is highly breathable. Its top section, though, has a hardened exterior with two square windows in it and Air Jordan text embossed along its peak. A black lace cover lies over the middle of the tongue, and a black lace toggle sits just behind it, both adorned with a Metallic Silver Jumpman silhouette, the one woven into the former much bigger than that printed onto the latter. Inside, a velvety black lining blankets the inner walls and the insole alike, and another Metallic Silver Jumpman gleams from the dark surface of the sockliner.
A small heel panel has been created where the inner material has spilled out over the topline, and a black pull tab loops out above it. A broad band of Metallic Silver rises up along its center, adding a certain flair to the back of the shoe, and below it another Jumpman has been embroidered, this time in a fine dark gray thread. Even further down the heel, the number 23 has been set into the black nubuck in Metallic Silver, thus completing this suave Air Jordan 6 with a nod to its legendary namesake.
