Nike’s ACG sub-label launched in 1989 and within a decade had built a reputation for producing high-quality all-terrain outerwear. The late 1990s in particular was a strong period for All Conditions Gear, bringing a number of innovative shoes, one of which was the comfort-focused ACG Izy.

The upper of the Nike ACG Izy resembles that of a traditional moccasin. Made entirely of plush, water-resistant suede, it features high sidewalls, intricate stitching and a broad lining around the collar for durability. The heel overlay extends all the way up the back of the foot, culminating in a broad pull tab that combines with the convenient zipper fastening system on the instep for easy, slip-on entry. Internally, a soft fleece lining keeps the foot warm and comfortable, even in cold conditions.

Despite being based on a casual moccasin, the ACG Izy has a boot-like feel generated by its rugged sole. Supportive foam fills the impressively stacked midsole, while the powerful rubber outsole reaches up to add extra protection over the heel and forefoot. Its varied lug patterns include blocky grip pads around the perimeter and rounded nodules through the center for dependable traction in both urban and rural environments.

Initially released in 1999, the Nike ACG Izy returned in 2024 with the same sophisticated style as the original. Its elegant suede upper is punctuated by either tonal or contrast stitching, a mini Swoosh is stamped subtly onto the zip and a diminutive ACG tag emerges from the lateral heel. Cloud-like contouring decorates the midsole, and a Swoosh has been delicately etched into the toe rubber, while the dynamic patterns of the outsole are accompanied by a heritage ACG logo honoring the sub-label’s influential legacy.

The Nike ACG Izy is a suave sneaker-boot designed for maximum comfort when venturing outside in wintry weather. Its smooth, soft upper belies the power of its sturdy, supportive sole, which makes the Izy ideal both for daily use and countryside hiking trips.
