The Nike Pegasus series has been around for several decades and has always offered runners a reliable combination of performance and comfort for a variety of training routines. In 2022, the line took another step forward as the Pegasus 39 was released.

The Nike Pegasus 39 has been built for all types of runners, with a range of high-quality features. Its sole unit is made from spongy React foam and both the heel and forefoot contain responsive Zoom Air units for exceptional cushioning as well as heaps of energy return. Below this, the shoe is held steady by a durable rubber outsole with upgraded lug patterns across its surface. Extra rubber has been added to the grip pads around the heel area to provide the best possible traction and stability.

The updated engineered mesh upper is lined with perforations that deliver breathability across the foot. Reinforced areas around the laces prevent the material from bunching up and pinching the skin, while the lacing system itself is held securely in place with tough Flywire cables, thus enhancing lockdown. The fit is improved even further by the placement of extra padding around the heel and along the tongue, both areas serving to prevent slippage while also being more comfortable. Meanwhile, the Achilles is afforded a little extra protection by the redesign of the heel, which scoops up a little higher at the back than it did on earlier models. 

Lightweight and flexible, the Pegasus 39 also comes in a range of stunning colorways. In terms of branding, things are kept elegantly minimal, with a swoosh on the medial sidewall and a mere outline on the lateral flank. Air Zoom lettering adorns the midsole, and Nike text appears on the heel with a small swoosh below it, before a branded tongue patch completes the shoe’s stylishly understated look.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the Nike Pegasus 39 offers all athletes a versatile and reliable option for everyday running at a range of distances. The addition of Zoom Air to the heel as well as the forefoot makes the well-cushioned React foam midsole extra responsive, and the reworked upper gives a snug, secure fit, making it stable, comfortable and incredibly supportive.
