Nike’s Tiempo football boot has been around for several decades and worn by multiple star players. During this time, it has evolved both esthetically and technologically, with various models being introduced. In 2023, the Tiempo Legend reached an important milestone as the tenth iteration of the popular shoe was released.

The primary innovation on the Nike Tiempo Legend 10 is its groundbreaking upper. Made from a proprietary synthetic leather known as FlyTouch Plus, it is softer, lighter and stronger than traditional leather, while retaining 55% less water so it doesn’t gain weight in wet conditions and maintains its form-fitting shape over time. Although synthetic, it has been designed to have a textured surface that emulates real leather, thus giving a familiar feel. In addition, a series of curving grooves appear across the upper to allow flex and reduce creasing. Raised spots arc in dual lines over the medial sidewall, and a grippy All Conditions Control coating has been applied to the leather, providing great touch and facilitating expert levels of ball control.

The integrated tongue is made from Flyknit mesh for breathability, and this tough, lightweight material extends around the collar to produce a snug fit with excellent lockdown. The thin inner lining is lightly padded, which allows the player to feel the ball against their foot while also delivering a snug, comfortable fit. Underfoot, the soleplate incorporates conical and blade-shaped studs to provide grip no matter the movement, supporting everything from sudden stops to fast sprints.

For branding, the silhouette displays mismatched swooshes on each flank, the lateral logo being much larger than the medial one, with a Nike tag on the lateral collar. The Tiempo Legend emblem appears on the heel and outsole, and Nike’s Move to Zero pinwheel has been placed subtly above the lateral swoosh to show that the football boot is sustainably made – it incorporates at least 20% recycled materials by weight.

The Nike Tiempo Legend 10 was first released in the summer of 2023, just in time for the Women’s World Cup. For its launch, Nike designed a special colorway inspired by the growth and success of the women’s game, with a striking orange color gradient that represents a ‘new dawn’ for the sport. Following this, England captain, Leah Williamson, became known for wearing the silhouette, whether playing in central defense or as a midfielder, her versatility showing that the Legend 10 works in a range of positions.
