Nike’s epic Tiempo series was established way back in 1984, and since then, the model has diverged into a number of different versions, always evolving with the times to provide high-performing football boots to players at all levels. In 2021, the brand announced the next iteration of this extensive series: the Tiempo Legend 9.

The Nike Tiempo Legend 9 incorporates a range of features that make it a versatile option for all positions. Its kangaroo leather upper is soft and supple so that it molds to the foot of the athlete, with slim foam padding added to carefully selected areas that are most often used when controlling and striking the ball. As well as cushioning the touch, this delivers plush comfort and a snug fit around the foot.

The exterior of the upper is coated in various textured effects, both on the forefoot and quarter, thus presenting a tacky surface for the ball as it hits the shoe. This further enhances the player’s ability to effectively control the ball, which in turn improves all aspects of the game, from dribbling to passing and shooting as well.

In fact, the Tiempo Legend 9 is a great football boot for attacking players as it is aerodynamic and extremely lightweight, having dropped around 20g from the previous version. As a result, it is a much quicker shoe, while its redesigned soleplate has been optimized for fast cuts and sudden movements through its mixture of conical and blade-shaped studs.

Internally, the Legend 9 supports the foot through a variety of elements, including the cushioned insole and the breathable perforations in the leather lining around the heel. Meanwhile, the adaptive mesh tongue offers more ventilation, its soft fabric keeping things comfortable over the top of the foot.

With its exaggerated lateral swoosh and small, reversed medial one, the silhouette also displays a striking esthetic, especially thanks to the range of bold colorways released in the time since it was first announced in the summer of 2021. Whatever the design, the leather outer of the Nike Tiempo Legend 9 presents the timeless style and footballing heritage of the wider series, while its use of modern performance technologies makes it an excellent piece of sporting footwear.
